JSTOR for EKU History Students
Hello everyone, this video is for EKU History students who may need a little help finding resources on the libraries databases. If you are a HIS 290W student this will help you throughout your journey as a History major. This video will focus on finding primary and secondary resources on JSTOR.
Before we begin JSTOR is a digital library for scholars, researchers, and students. JSTOR provides access to more than 12 million academic journal articles, books, and primary sources in over 75 disciplines. So this can be a one stop shop for a History students research needs.
We will start out by going to the EKU Libraries website and choosing databases. From this we will locate JSTOR and click the link. You may or may not be asked to log in with your user name and password. This authenticates your access to the database. Log in just the same way you log in to the libraries technology on campus using your user name without the @mymail.eku.edu attached and your password. Once you are logged in you now have full access to the database.
Lets jump in an locate some primary resources. You will want to have narrowed down a topic to search for because just searching for FDR will lead you to way too many results. So let’s start by searching for information about Franklin Roosevelt’s the new deal specifically the civilian conservation corps. By narrowing your search you will be able to pin point references that are more relevant to your research topic. We want to find the best available information that is most relevant that will help us write about our topic.
